the cave......

My kitchen is more and more cave like every week. Im slowly stripping the roon down to the framing. The ols plaster is DEAD and not patchable. Its just barely hanging on to the latowrk in most places. I got a lead on an electrician and two plumbers. I cant wait to get that stuff done so i can drywall it and maybe a nice mosaic, and a new floor , abd cabinets,,,,LOL. oh well slow but sure. Ive got about 1/3 or the drywall GONE, and the door into my bedroom closet is framed back in and finished inside. It SO NICE to have a normal sized closed back....... all my clothes fit in it. Too bad max lost his racetrack..... poor boy.

shortcut to the kichen.................

Some previous owner of my house thought to make an alcove in the kitchen for the fridge so it set in the wall...... very nice. CEPT it took space from an already small closet. Im taking the space back and will find somewhere else for the fridge. I ripped out the work they did and now I have a nice shortcut from my room to the kitchen. LOL. Lets a real nice breeze flow thru the whole house too .... I may just leave it,,,,,LOL

new patio and wall

Im not quite done, but the hard stuff is done, and I need better after pics. But my front patio and retaining wall is complete. Over 1500 pounds of supplies. Im tired.... I got the patio in and leveled, and a retaining wall to accent it and to hold up a area for a garden, which Im putting plants in now. Ive got a hibiscus hedge started and have added a couple ferns. I want the hedge to be about 4-5 ft tall (eventually) but even at 2 feet it will serve its purpose to help give some "curb appeal" to my (once) drab front yard. Ive gotten countless compliments so far, and have seen peple stopping to enjo it from the window. tee hee. I may mosaic over the cinderblock....if i get that luxury of time. But Ive gotten the improvement I wanted even if i stop now. A coupe pics in the gallery. sorry the ariel is so dark. I'll get a better one soon. and one fron the front.... Im so pleased with my work..... = )

Anyone got any new ones? I'm considering this project and would LOVE to hear from anyone about their experiences. I'm thinking of going to Costa Rica for the project and welcome any insight as to "outofthecountryboobjobs"

And... if you happen to know of another discussion group related to this issue, i would really dig the referral.

I was very excited for a minute..... My cheap ass finally bought a new computer, and I was able to set it up and get on line in record time. I was all giddy getting ready to upload some pics.....and THE DISCS ARE AT WORK........LOL. workin on the laundry area

I been working on my laundry area and hope to have some pics soon. I covered in the rough franing on the inside walls (it on a covered patio) primed the walls and covered the area around the sink with bright colored tiles to enhance the spanish influence of the house. Im off to get some terra cotta grout and paint, and a bit of trim too. Im trying to get this area ready for laundry equipment rather than to get it first and have to work around it.... tee heee, progress in well on its way. Hope u all are enjoying the projects U have going as well. I know its the holidays, BUT i dont expect that to hamper the efforts of this hard working crowd. See ya all soon, Nathan

here is a before for ya.....There is a small area on the main tier of my new back yard that the previous owner left a bunch of crap in. Its a third if the first of the three backyards. A nice area (without the crap) A couple rotting pallets, old fence gate, rusty planters, blah blah blah. I started to clean it up so I could level it up a bit with a step and put in some grass (for max, my dog) and BEFORE I knew it I had removed about 40 square feet of concrete....... AFTER I was finished I got a lil scared...... Hope I know what Im doing.....lol, N8N

vinyl talvera flooring

I had always heard there was a period that it was the rage to cover those aweful old wood floors with faux tile vinyl floors. Well I ran across it under the carpet in one of my bedrooms. It looks like talvera style tile. Its in amazingly good shape. Im gonna try and save it to put on a wall outside the back porch. I hope its not too brittle. Its pretty cool. I got all excited and tore up the carpet in the other bedroom hoping for more, or something just as wonderful..... It was aweful 70's looking tileish in beige and rust tones....lol oh well . I hope I have teull of the cool stuff to do the wall I want. If its brittle or Im running short, I'll cut the vinyl into tile border strips, or individual tiles and paste away....

Im disputing that were have already been moved to the mature section cuz I carelessly used the boob job pic....I had prepared a version that had pasties on but the file was too big and wouldnt load. I took out the "nudie" picture and am going to request we are removed from the MATURE area. I dont think that we are going to be too out there in here, but thay can move us again if we give them real reason too...

I started this tribe to open a forum that would include all kinds of projects and accomplishments. I wanted a positive forum to rejoice publicly no matter what the content. Many rooms are so select in their theme that sometimes by the time you find something to post of interest tht fits the topic , you're in a room with strangers. I hoped this room could be a place for more of a friend like atmosphere as a result of a constant input by positive, motivated, well rounded people. I hope we can enjoy it.
